You never really know which patient will be THE ONE
As a gateway to abuse, the surgical setting is where many people are first exposed to opioids. And while surgeons recognize that abuse is a national crisis, many do not associate their prescribing of opioids as contributing to it. After all, they've been trained to control pain with opioids–it’s a habit for them. Every year, 70 million patients in the U.S. are prescribed opioids after surgical procedures and studies show that ONE in TEN will develop a dependence. So how can they know if their patient is the one at risk? They don’t.
So Nukleus decided to take the challenge to the streets to highlight the issue as part of a prelaunch campaign to build awareness of a cultural health epidemic that could be helped by Pacira’s soon-to-be launched non-opioid pain reliever. We developed a powerful campaign focussed on provoking HCPs and patients to recognize that the post-surgical prescribing of opioids contributes to overuse and abuse, and that there are non-opioid alternatives to managing pain.
